Large-scale structure has become a precision laboratory for testing gravity and dark energy. I will present recent results from our multi-tracer analyses of SDSS-IV/eBOSS luminous red and emission-line galaxies, using both configuration- and Fourier-space approaches. A key element is a “chained” multipole estimator that suppresses angular systematics, enabling robust use of auto- and cross-correlations to sharpen BAO/RSD constraints. I will then discuss a model-agnostic reconstruction of the dark-energy equation of state that combines DESI BAO, Type-Ia supernovae, and a CMB distance prior. The data suggest a coherent, mild departure from a cosmological constant—with an apparent crossing of the w=−1 boundary—while remaining consistent with current systematics tests. I’ll close with prospects from DESI, Euclid, and PFS.
BIO
Gong-Bo Zhao is Deputy Director of the National Astronomical Observatories, Chinese Academy of Sciences (NAOC), and Head of the Department of Astronomy at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS). His research focuses on dark energy and tests of gravity using large galaxy redshift surveys. Zhao has led key analyses in BOSS and served as a science working-group lead in eBOSS, where he helped pioneer the use of quasars to map the high-redshift Universe. He was lead author on a Nature Astronomy study reporting evidence for dynamical dark energy, and his group is deeply involved in DESI. He has published over 190 refereed papers, which have been cited more than 20,000 times. His honors include the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, selection to China’s “Ten-Thousand Talents” program (science and technology leaders), a Royal Society Newton Advanced Fellowship, and the Tencent “Science Exploration Award.”
