    COLIBRE is a new set of state-of-the-art cosmological hydrodynamical simulations of galaxy formation that self-consistently model the cold interstellar medium (ISM) and the dust therein. Previous large-volume simulations are often calibrated against low-redshift observational constraints, particularly the stellar mass function (SMF), which relies on a number of uncertain assumptions such as star formation history, dust attenuation, metallicity, and the initial mass function (IMF). With the advent of JWST, our observational horizon now extends to the very early Universe, making it timely to study the luminosity functions of simulations and compare them with high-redshift observations. In this talk, I will introduce our ongoing project in which we use the radiative transfer code, SKIRT to investigate the luminosity functions of the new COLIBRE simulation suite, spanning from the local Universe to redshifts as high as 15, and covering wavelengths from FUV to submillimeter.

    BIO

    Dr. Shengdong Lu is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute for Computational Cosmology, Durham University. He received his PhD from the National Astronomical Observatories, Chinese Academy of Sciences, in 2020. From 2020 to 2023, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Tsinghua DoA before moving to his current position. His research focuses on analyzing data from both semi-analytic models and cosmological simulations, with a particular interest in the origin of overly bright high-redshift galaxies and their evolution across cosmic time.
