标题:New Insights into the Progenitors of Core-Collapse Supernovae

Core-collapse supernovae (CCSNe) are spectacular explosions of dying massive stars and play significant roles in various astrophysical processes. It is a key topic, and still a major difficulty, to determine the progenitors of different types of CCSNe. In this talk, I will describe the general understanding on this topic from past studies and introduce our recent work in this field on a wide range of CCSN types using a combination of different techniques. Our main finding is that interacting binaries play ubiquitous roles in almost all types of CCSNe, from the H-rich Type II-P to the H-poor Types IIb/Ib/Ic as well as those types with strong interaction with circumstellar material (IIn, Ibn, and the peculiar SN2014C-like events with Ib->IIn spectral transformation). Future large-scale surveys with high spatial and temporal resolutions (such as Euclid, CSST, LSST, WFST and SiTian) will better reveal the progenitors of CCSNe in the golden era of time-domain astronomy.
BIO
Dr. Ningchen Sun obtained his PhD in 2018 at Peking University. He then carried out his postdoctoral research at the University of Sheffield from 2018 to 2022. After that he joined the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences as an assistant professor. His recent research focuses on core-collapse supernovae and their progenitors.
