I will review the recent progress in understanding astrophysical transients within the context of the multi-wavelength (MW) and multi-messenger (MM) observations, highlighting gamma-ray bursts (GRBs), fast X-ray transients (FXTs), and fast radio bursts (FRBs). Special attention is paid to the breakthrough observations made with the Einstein Probe and SVOM space telescopes as well as the FAST radio telescope.
BIO
Bing Zhang is Chair Professor of Astrophysics in the Department of Physics at the University of Hong Kong and the Founding Director of the Hong Kong Institute for Astronomy and Astrophysics. He has published over 650 refereed papers with more than 60,000 citations, and is one of the “highly ranked scholars in astronomy during lifetime” identified by ScholarGPS. He is an elected fellow of the American Physical Society, served as PI of the FAST FRB Key Science Project, and is serving as Chair of the multi-messenger science topical panel for the Einstein Probe mission, and the Chinese Mission Scientist and convenor of the GRB science working group for the Chinese-French SVOM GRB mission.
